Lindsay, a Chartered Surveyor and author of ‘Scotland’s Shops’, is Scotland’s leading expert on historic shop conservation. Prior to taking up the role of Trust Manager she supported the Trust on a number of projects, including the £1.5 million King Street Funding Initiative.

Taking over as Trust Manager in 2020, Lindsay has led the successful expansion of the Trust’s area of operation, enabling it to offer Traditional Building Health Check inspections and Traditional Building Repair Grants in Bridge of Allan and Dunblane. Under her leadership, the Trust has taken a leading position in Scotland in tackling the impact of climate change on traditional buildings, with the launch of the Retrofit and Energy Efficiency service and associated grant in 2023. In addition to expanding the Trust’s operations, Lindsay has also built a strong partnership with Stirling Council, leading the development of the Stirling Heritage Strategy.

SCHT staff and trustees will miss Lindsay’s leadership and enthusiasm and wish her all the best for the future.

"Having been involved with SCHT for around 15 years, I have seen many of Stirling’s historic building’s repaired through the positive work of the Trust. These included shopfronts and tenements in King Street which helped to transform the street to the lively place it is today, together with numerous repairs of individual dwellings across Stirling, Dunblane and Bridge of Allan. I am proud to have been involved in several outreach projects including exhibitions on John Allan, King Stret and McLuckie and Walker as well as the wonderful dementia reminiscence boxes. The Traditional Buildings Health Check has been central to our work and we are so fortunate in Stirling to deliver this vital scheme for the city, helping building owners to better care for their traditional buildings. It is hard to leave after so many years, but I know that the Trust is in safe hands with the excellent team led by Vivienne and overseen by our dedicated and hard working Trustees.  I am looking forward to new adventures ahead in my retirement."  Dr Lindsay Lennie, outgoing Trust Manager

"I want to take this opportunity to thank Lindsay for her dedication and hard work in the heritage sector, and especially her work shining a light on our historic shopfronts, demonstrating the valuable contribution they make to our high streets and the stories they tell.  She has personally shown great support to me, for which I am very grateful, and I want to wish her a long, healthy, and happy retirement”. Vivienne Whyte, new Trust Manager for Stirling City Heritage Trust

Stirling City Heritage Trust's new Trust Manager, Vivienne Whyte, brings a wealth of practical and technical knowledge, with over 20 years of experience in the heritage sector. She worked for several years as a Conservation Officer and was then the Building and Conservation Manager for two historic estates before taking up a post managing the Perth City Heritage Fund at Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust. She therefore has direct experience of working at a City Heritage Trust and managing large, grant-funded building repair projects.
