Mortar and Masonry Skills Training

Gain SQA National Units 1, 2 & 3 in Conservation Masonry in this five day intensive workshop with the Scottish Lime Centre Trust.
This intensive week of training and assessment will combine the courses ‘C1 Making and Using Traditional Mortars’ and ‘C2 Traditional Masonry Repair’ with continual assessment to allow you to gain SQA National Units 1, 2 & 3 in Conservation Masonry within five intensive days.
The content covered over this 5 day workshop and assessment will include:
-Understanding of lime technology
-Creating a repair strategy
-Design of new mortars for conservation work
-Harling and renders
-Preparation of mortars
-Lime pointing for rubble and ashlar
-Surface repair of stone
We are offering this course to building contractors based in or active in the Stirling area.
This week is only suitable for those with previous masonry repair experience and trowel skills (of building, pointing and harling in particular). Those indicating interest will be required to complete an assessment questionnaire from the Scottish Lime Centre prior to confirmation.

Fees and Funding
The training is funded but successful applicants will be required to pay a £50 non-refundable reservation fee per course to secure their place. If your application to attend is successful you will be issued with an invoice and details of how to pay.
