On Site in King Street

The Wilkies shopfront will be repaired and the blocked first floor windows reinstated

The King Street Funding Initiative is a 6 year project which is investing significantly in the fabric of buildings in the heart of the City Centre.

The first project is now on site. The tenement at 42-46 is a Category B listed building and comprises a shop on the ground and first floor occupied by retailer Wilkies with two residential flats above.

This funding initiative aims to bring traditional buildings back into a good state of repair and enhance the appearance of the streetscape of this important historic street. The project works include repairs to the roof, chimneys and gutters as well as new windows and repainting of the façade.

A number of other projects are in the pipeline in King Street with significant investment planned for 2016 and 2017.
