About us

The City Heritage Trusts were established in 2004 in Aberdeen, Dundee, Inverness and Stirling on the recommendations of the Scottish Executive's 'Review of Scotland's Cities'.  A former Royal Burgh, Stirling had been awarded city status in 2002 as part of the Jubilee Year celebrations.

We are an independent company limited by guarantee (SC277033) and a registered Scottish charity (SC037888). Historic Scotland and Stirling Council principally funded the Trust.  Their funding is guaranteed until March 2011. Additional funding has been available since 2007 from Scottish Natural Heritage.

The Trust has now operated for four years.  We have awarded 130 grants to a diverse range of projects that conserve, enhance and promote Stirling's built environment equating to an investment of over £1.25 million.
